Review: The Shucker's Booktique by J.C. McKenzie

After her fiancé dumps her and her beloved Aunt Jenny goes missing, Willa Eklund travels to Lobster Cove with a broken heart to search for Jenny while running her bookstore. When a mysterious man visits the Shucker's Booktique on a stormy night drenched in rain and covered in mud, Willa's heart melts under his stormy gaze. She wants Lon and the answers he may have, but he also has a secret. Can Willa trust him?

Lon Devlin is a Tempest, a water sprite who can only take a human form during stormy nights. He rides the waves, lives by the tides, and nothing can hold him down, not even a beautiful woman. When he visits his mortal friend, he discovers she's missing and her intriguing niece has taken her place. He wants Willa, but he also wants answers. What happened to Jenny?

Overall Rating:  3 to 3.5 Rockin’ ★★★☆

Prepare yourself to be entertained as you read this great story. As I read this book, I was reminded of Cinderella, her evil step-mother and two sisters. This book has so many elements running through it that you will need your imagination to follow all the amazing action taking place.  The biggest question is “Who is Aunt Jenny” and where did she go?

Willow is running and living at her aunt’s bookstore hoping that her aunt will return.  Willow’s mother sent her to run the store and to make sure the profits were sent back to her as quickly as possible.  Her mother said Willow was the only one that was free to help take care of things until Aunt Jenny was found since she had just lost her boyfriend.   The rest of family could not be bothered to come and help try to find Aunt Jenny.  Willow refuses to give up her search even though no one knows what has happened to her. Then one stormy night the banging on the door changes Willow’s life.

Lon is a Tempest, a water sprite.  He can assume human form when there is a strong storm.  So during a stormy night he goes to visit his friend Jenny only to find her missing.  In her place is a special woman that pulls him in a way he has never felt before.  Is she the one?  Can she hold him to her and make him leave his brothers? Read Willow and Lon’s story to find out what happens!

Would I recommend this book: Yes! This is a really unique story with mystery, sizzling sexual innuendoes and hot mythological creatures. Great read for those that enjoy the unusual in a romance novel.

Would I recommend this author: Yes! I really like this author and her storyline.  J.C. McKenzie is not what you would expect in an author and that makes her books an unexpected read.
